In this Behind the Case video, we are joined by Megan Brand, Executive Director of the Colorado Fund for People with Disabilities.
Megan discusses how she worked with one of her pooled trust beneficiaries to ensure she was not penalized by Medicaid for transfers to the trust, which would have resulted in the loss of her long-term care benefits. This case started as a discussion with the Medicaid office and then went to a fair hearing, the local courts, and eventually rulemaking at the State Capitol.
She will share:
- The timeline and administrative journey of the case
- The importance of creating a proper spending plan for pooled trust beneficiaries over 65 years old
- The invaluable support received from the disability and elder law advocacy communities
This conversation highlights the importance of the larger community among our clients in ensuring policies are maintained within the law, as well as making sure the most vulnerable receive support to maintain their quality of life. Watch now!
